I have been known to be a creative person ever since I was young.
At the age of 9, I sold duct tape wallets. In fourth grade, we earned rewards at the end of every week. Throughout the week, the teacher would periodically hand out fake money to those who were doing the right things. On Fridays, the teacher would bring out a reward box and to get any of the items, you have to have enough money. I saw that my friends kept losing money and didn’t know where to put them. I saw this as a problem and decided to take matters into my own hands and create something. I did research online and ended up YouTubing how to make duct tape wallets. Of course, I did not do this all by myself. I had the help of my aunt. She showed me how to handle and manage money, figure out the supplies needed, and how to keep track of inventory. I made my first wallet and it was mine. I brought it to school and everyone wanted it. With the products I was making, all of them had to pay $3-$5, of the fake money of course. That’s how I became rich as a fourth-grader.
At the age of 10, I created flower drawings for binder covers. In fifth grade, we all had to have these ugly binders to carry to classes. I wanted to spice mine up, so I made my "famous" flower drawing and put it in my binder cover to add character. All the girls saw it and they liked it so much that I ended up drawing it for them too. In doing this, I kept track of who wanted a flower drawing and specifically what colors they wanted. I believe I limited them to 2-3 colors. I know I exchanged them for something, but I don’t quite remember. The guys surprisingly ended up wanting one too.
At the age of 12, I made rainbow loom bracelets. In sixth grade, rainbow loom bracelets were a big trend. I bought one to see if I was able to make them and I was! People noticed my bracelets and I ended up selling some, but instead of fake money, it was with actual money.
Unfortunately, I stopped being a little entrepreneur until I turned 19. That is when God gave me an awesome idea, and currently, it is in progress right now.
I am still the creative, determined, entrepreneur I have always been. I am currently studying architecture and my main goal is to help homeless people. I originally wanted to become a pediatrician because I had that dream since I was five years old. I believed that becoming a doctor was the only way that I could help people in need, until 2020 when God opened my eyes.
I have always loved interior design and it was something I was interested in, so one day my parents and I talked and they brought up architecture. They brought up how creative I am and how much I love designing homes for fun. The thing was, I had no clue what architecture was besides it being a field where you design buildings. I decided to do some research of my own, and I thought, why not give it a shot?
In my first year of college, I was in the exploratory program because that was when I was still undecided about what I wanted to do. In my English class, our last paper was a research paper. This was my first ever research paper and we were able to write about anything. I decided why not do more research on architecture and see how they are able to help homeless people. I wrote this 8-page paper in one week. I have never written a paper that fast in my life, but it was because I was so passionate about this topic. Little did I know that it was actually a good research paper and my professor decided to submit it to the 2021 UC English Essay Contest. I ended up winning the contest and I was so proud of myself, but it wasn't just me who wrote it, it was God's idea and I couldn't have done it without him.
Spring of 2021 is when I found out I got into DAAP! I was beyond excited and so thankful God had my back and it just confirms that this is what God told me to do. After completing my first year of architecture school, I am super excited to see what God has in store for me, because I enjoyed every project that I've done in the school year and I can't wait to see what God has me do with this career. I hope to one day have my own architecture firm and Non-Profit Organization that will go hand in hand to figure out ways we can help people get off the streets. I know that we have things in place to help with that, but I don’t see anything actually happening. With God by my side, I know that whatever God has in His plans will come to prosper through me.
To end this section, my big goal is to help people find God! I want people to experience who God is and what he can do. I have changed drastically and it wasn’t an easy journey, but one that was definitely needed. I mainly am geared toward those my age. I want to help young people come to know Christ so that we can have more people spreading His word in my generation. I want people to know that you must have a relationship with God. It is way more than just going to church on Sunday and doing good. I want to share things with others about God that not everyone knows. It takes a lot more to get saved, but not by much, and I want to help. One of the many ways God has given me the opportunity to do this is through YouTube and TikTok, so check it out!
